We met at work — three women from three different countries, all navigating Dubai for the first time. The first Friday, we went to FiLLi because it was close to Noura's flat. We ordered three karaks, talked for two hours, and decided to do it again. That was 2021. We have not missed a single Friday since. Through job changes, breakups, visa scares, and one pregnancy — FiLLi has been the constant. The staff know our order. We have "our" table (the corner one by the window at the Business Bay branch). Last month, my mother visited from Cairo and asked me what my favourite place in Dubai was. I said FiLLi without thinking.
